Canon IIS2

The Canon IIS2 was a 35mm camera produced by Canon in Japan for a short period between 1955 and 1956. Representing a continuation of Canon's early post-war rangefinder camera development, the IIS2 was positioned as a reliable and functional mid-range model. It offered a solid, straightforward shooting experience typical of consumer cameras of that era, featuring a coupled rangefinder for focusing and a cloth focal-plane shutter. While incorporating design elements familiar in Canon's lineup at the time, the IIS2 did not introduce groundbreaking innovations and remains a relatively obscure model compared to Canon's more celebrated models like the Canon VT or later models like the Canonet QL17.
