FED 3 L/D

FED · Ukraine · 1977–1983 (6 years) · 135 film

The FED 3 L/D is a basic 35mm film camera manufactured by the Soviet FED cooperative between 1977 and 1983. As part of the long-running FED rangefinder series, it represents the final iterations of this utilitarian design, continuing a lineage dating back to Leica copies. The L/D variant, while lacking significant technical innovation, offered Soviet citizens a simple, affordable tool for everyday photography, embodying the characteristic sturdy, functional approach of Soviet consumer optics during the late Cold War era. It shares the core features of its predecessors: a coupled rangefinder, a cloth focal plane shutter with speeds from 1s to 1/500s, and a fixed lens mount for standard 50mm lenses.
