Rolleiflex 6006 Model 2
Rollei · Germany · 1989–1993 (4 years) · 120 film
The Rolleiflex 6006 Model 2 was a professional medium format single-lens reflex (SLR) camera introduced by Rollei in 1989, continuing the company's tradition of precision photographic equipment. This model represented Rollei's serious entry into the 6×6 medium format market, positioning itself as a competitor to the legendary Hasselblad system. The camera featured a modular design with interchangeable viewfinders, focusing screens, and motor drives, along with a built-in exposure meter and advanced TTL flash capabilities. Targeted at professional photographers, it offered the precision and reliability expected in the medium format realm while incorporating modern electronic features of its era.
As part of the 6006 series, the Model 2 represented an evolution from earlier Rolleiflex SLR models, incorporating improved electronics and ergonomic features that made medium format photography more accessible to working professionals. The camera used the standard 120 film format producing 12 exposures per roll in 6×6 format, maintaining consistency with Rollei's heritage while bringing the system into the late 20th century. Despite being technically competent and well-built, the 6006 series operated in a market increasingly challenged by emerging 35mm systems and the nascent digital photography revolution, limiting its widespread adoption compared to Rollei's classic twin-lens reflex models.
