Konica Auto S2
Konica · Japan
The Konica Auto S2 was a fixed-lens rangefinder camera introduced by Konica in the mid-1960s, part of their successful and long-running Auto S series aimed at the consumer market. It featured Konica's proprietary "Rangemaster" coupled rangefinder system and a Konica Hexanon 48mm f/2 lens, offering reliable manual focusing and good optical quality for its price point and era. The camera was designed for simplicity and ease of use, incorporating selenium cell light metering visible in the viewfinder to aid exposure settings, and it operated on a leaf shutter with speeds from 1 second to 1/500th. Encased in a compact and functional metal body, the Auto S2 represented a competent, affordable option for photography enthusiasts and general shooters during a period when Japanese compact cameras were gaining significant popularity internationally.
