Olympus OM-30
Olympus · Japan
The Olympus OM-30 is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera introduced by Olympus in the early 1980s, part of their highly successful and compact OM system. It positioned itself as an advanced amateur model, offering a significant step up from the OM-10 while being more accessible than the flagship OM-1 and OM-2 models. Key to its design was its smaller, lighter body compared to many contemporary SLRs, a hallmark of the OM series, featuring Olympus's robust construction typical of the era. The most notable feature distinguishing the OM-30 was its integrated, TTL (Through-The-Lens) Automatic Exposure (AE) unit housed within its pentaprism housing. This self-contained AE capability allowed for full aperture priority operation without the need for the separate external AE-1 unit required by the OM-10, making it a more complete and user-friendly camera. It retained the excellent OM bayonet lens mount, providing access to a wide range of high-quality Zuiko lenses.
